Permanent Residency is needed if you wish to stay in Ireland for more than 90 days. You need to apply for Ireland Residence Permit also called a Certificate of Registration. This is a conditional permit to stay in Ireland which can be converted into an Ireland Permanent Residency without Condition of Time; Once the foreign national has lived in Ireland for a minimum of five years continuously without any long absences.
Only certain type of visits to Ireland will count toward the continuous five years of “reckonable residence”. Time spent in Ireland on Tourist Visa will not count towards reckonable residence.
Approved applicants receive an Irish residency permit (Stamp 4 permit) which allows applicants and their family to live, work, start a business, or study in Ireland for up to five years.
After the initial five years, ongoing five-year extensions of the Stamp 4 permit are available.
After the age of 16, dependents also need to get residence permit as well.
There are several paths you can take to apply for Irish permanent residency
If you are currently in UK on an employment permit it may lead to path to application for permanent residency in Ireland provided you are currently employed and meet other terms and conditions of eligibility for IRP.
Eligible for foreign investors at least 24 years of age; investment must be done through an existing business, enterprise investment, investment fund, Irish stock exchange or an Irish REIT. A minimum investment required in an Investment fund option is Euro 1 million. However, you will have to prove your credentials including minimum investment that you may be willing to invest in the program you wish to apply for.
Although, this program does not guarantee Ireland permanent residence, you will be able to extend residency permissions and stay in Ireland for an indefinite amount of time. You may also be eligible for Ireland Gold Visa program.
You may be eligible for permanent residency if you are a spouse or dependent family member of an Irish Permanent Residence Holder. You must have lived in the country for a minimum of 5 years to be eligible to apply, along with meeting other qualifications. Your sponsor family member must have been granted permanent residency on a Stamp 4.
